02 has drawn on its experience of selling the iPhone to tweak how it serves up the web to mobile customers.
The mobile giant yesterday announced tweaks to its mobile internet home page, which it claims will make the online experience much better for users.
Among the new and revamped features is a built-in toolbar that enables users to quickly and easily access their favourite sites. Users will also be able to personalise their home page - another move towards making the mobile web experience akin to that of the desktop, according to O2.
“We’ve learned a lot from our iPhone customers,” said Alistair Johnston, marketing director at Telefónica O2 UK. “Customers expect the mobile internet to be more like the internet experience at home or the office and that is our objective.”
The new service will be available on 15 handsets (see below for list) initially, but there are plans to extend its reach to other models in the coming weeks.
Customers using eligible handsets will be transferred over to the new home page automatically, while those using devices not yet covered will continue to be able to access the old O2 Active home page.
